Description Day by Day

Day one: Villanovaforru and Genna Maria
Meet at the Cagliari airport and private transfer to Villanovaforru, a small village on the border between Campidano Plain and Marmilla. After an excellent bike fitting at the hotel, we can try the bikes trought the streets of the village, with its typical houses in limestone and possibly visit the archaeological museum and the “nuraghe” of Genna Maria.
Welcome dinner at Hotel I Lecci.

Day two: Barumini and Marmilla
Circular bike ride from Villanovaforru, to Barumini, via Tuili Pauli Arbarei
Distance 42 km / 26 miles
The first stage will be on a mixture of terrains, from dirt roads to asphalt. Through country roads you will come up to Barumini, at the foot of the Giara Plateau, famous for its small horses, where you can visit the most important archaeological site on the island, the “Nuraghe” of Barumini. Along the way we meet many small country towns where life still goes on slowly, following the rhythms of the seasons and the classic Dolce Vita italian style.

Day three: Montevecchio, Old Mines and Seafood
Bike ride from Montevecchio to Portu Maga, via Funtanazza
Distance 35 km / 21,7 miles
We starts cycling from the mining village of Montevecchio, 380 meters above sea level. From here we will come to the Costa Verde, but before diving in the emerald waters of this wonderful corner of Sardinia, we will visit a dairy farm near the settlement of Funtanazza. After the usual taste of local produce a short stretch of asphalt separates us from the Corsaro Nero, right by the sea. The restaurant is famous for its dishes of seafood, that will delight your palate.

Day four: Piscinas and its famous sand dunes
Bike ride from Portu Maga to Montevecchio and back via Piscinas
Distance 34 km / 21,1 miles
Today will be more demanding than the previous, with a nice climb in the morning and the beautiful slopes in the afternoon … something for everyone!
We start along the coastal road to the wonderful sandy beach of Piscinas, and then tackle the challenging climb that brings us back to Montevecchio. After being shot with a soft lunch, we warm up again our legs pedaling a bit ‘on asphalt before we start downhill along a beautiful scenic trail that leads us directly to Portu Maga, where another succulent dinner will make us forget the fatigue.

Day five: Ingurtosu and the wild nature
Bike ride from Portu Maga to Gonnosfanadiga via Naracauli
Distance 31km / 19,2 miles
We start the day cycling to Piscinas until we get to the highest dunes, and after a good swim we will be ready for the climb of the day. We will rise gradually over a single track that leads to the washery of Naracauli, and after a climb more challenging we will get to the mining village of Ingurtosu. Just a little ‘climb to cross to the valley of Sibiri, where we are welcome at the Agriturismo La Quercia. A dip in the pool and then our traditional dinner!

Day six: the real Green Coast and Su Mannau Caves
Bike ride from Gonnosfanadiga to Fluminimaggiore via Monte Santa Vittoria
Distance 30 km / 18,6 miles
Left the farm after a short warm-up, we will start soon to rise. 6 km on a challenging rocky terrain and sometimes quite rough, up and up to the top pass of Monte Santa Vittoria. From here a beautiful descent of about 9 km, on a dirt road in good condition, will lead us up to the town of Fluminimaggiore from where it continues up to the caves of Su Mannau. Here you can visit the caves and admire the impressive stalactites and rare aragonite. After a picnic in the shade of the oaks will resume the road to Fluminimaggiore and from here on asphalt until our accomodation.

Day seven: Buggerru, Cala Domestica and its history
Circular bike ride from Fluminmaggiore to Cala Domestica via Buggerru Portixeddu
Distance 47 km / 29,1 miles
We finish the tour with a ride a little ‘more demanding, but memorable! We will come across a beautiful single track to the beach of Cala Domestica, hidden in its natural canyon, blue oasis surrounded by the ”Mediterranean macchia“, just lovely. From its valley we will ride throught the Gutturu Cardaxius gorge, until the mine of San Luigi, a long climb ascent in a majestic landscape of limestone. The last descent brings us back to Buggerru, and from here you can enjoy an unforgettable view! We will celebrate the conclusion of the tour on a terrace overlooking the sea with a good glass of Ichnusa beer, before returning to the agriturismo and get ready for our last dinner all togheter.

Day eight: after breakfast end of the tour. Private transfer to Cagliari airport or train station.
