Sardinia Island is located in the heart of the beautiful Mediterranean sea. You will love the beautiful landscapes whitch this tour will offer you. Starting from the heart of hilly Marmilla, you can visit the largest open-air museum on the island, Barumini, where 3500 years ago “Su Nuraxi” was built, the largest Nuragic town in Sardinia. Then you will go up and down the seaside mountains of Costa Verde, full of old and suggestive mines. Cycling southwards, towards the island of Sant’Antioco and along the Teulada coast, an unforgettable scenery will stay in your mind forever. The scent of the Mediterranean Sea and the Sardinian countryside will frame your memories and your pictures. People here are very friendly and with them, you’ll taste the typical “Mediterranean Dolcevita”.
Description Day by Day
Day one: Arrival in Cagliari airport and transfer to Oristano
Meet and Greet with “Bike Tour Sardinia” representative/s who will fit your bikes and familiarize you with each days ride.
The city of Oristano is located in the Northern part of the Campidano plain, on the Midwest coast of Sardinia. Its birth is dated from 1070 and it was the capital of the Judges of Arborea. The city is historically linked to the name of its greatest representative: Eleonora d’Arborea. The center preserves historic buildings of interest, which make it a pleasure to walk through the narrow streets of the old town.
Lodging: Hotel Il Duomo or Regina d’Arborea
Day two: Tharros and the Sinis Peninsula
Loop bike ride through Cabras, Tharros, Oristano and back. Distance: 54km / 33,5mi all flat.
Discover the peninsula of “Sinis,” known for its vast ponds and lagoons and where, depending on the season, you will be able to see wonderful pink flamingos. You’ll roll through Riola Sardo and then ride over the Cabras lagoon. You may also visit the ruins of the Punic-Roman port city of “Tharros” with a breathtaking view of the sea. The tour will continue to the Marina di Torre Grande where you can stop for lunch in the town restaurants to taste the unforgettable peppered mussels. Ride back to the hotel on designated bicycle path.
Lodging: Hotel il Duomo or Regina d’Arborea.
Day three: Guspini & SPA
Cycling: To Guspini via Pabillonis, Sant’Antonio di Santadi and Montevecchio. Distance: 80km / 50mi, challenging bike ride:
A beautiful ride for strong cyclist, from Sardara we start to cross the Campidano and take a completely flat route to the coast until Sant’Antonio di Santadi, exactly 30 km! At this point we are warmed enough to face the hills of Montevecchio, an old mine village. The mines of Montevecchio became an important site for industrial archaeology, forming an important part of the Parco Geominerario Storico (Historic Geomineral Parks). After this stop, we can enjoy the curvy downhill to Guspini.

Day four: Calasetta & Pan di Zucchero
Cycling: From Guspini to Calasetta via Portixeddu, Capo Pecora (Cape Sheep), Bugerru and Nebida. Distance: 70km / 43,5mi
Starting with a uphill climb to Arbus, you will be surprised with a long panoramic downhill towards the Sea which stops in Portixeddu and its long beach. With a short extension of 4km, we can admire the granite peninsula of Capo Pecora. Now skirt the coast passing by Cala Domestica and we arrive in the town of Nebida in front of Pan di Zucchero. This is an outcropping rock 133 meters high in the sea with two natural arches. Have a light lunch in front of the sea and with a little transfer we’ll arrive in Calasetta; a peaceful and quiet sailing harbor but at the same time is a thriving community offering all amenities and a lively, friendly atmosphere.
Lodging: Hotel Luci del faro in Calasetta
Day five: Carloforte & San Pietro island
Ferry boat from Calasetta to Carloforte and loop of the San Pietro Island by bike. Distance: 40km / 24,8mi
Today we’ll take a ferryboat from Calasetta going to Carloforte, a suggestive town dedicated to the old Italian King Carlo Felice. After a little loop in San Pietro Island and a good lunch in the fisherman town of Carloforte (known worldwide for tuna fishing), we’ll take another ferryboat, which will take us back to the suggestive white colored village of Calasetta.

Day six: Baia di Chia & Teulada
Cycling: From Sant’Antioco via Teulada to Pula. Distance: 47km / 29mi
Our last ride is terrific: Ride alongside rugged cliffs raised with ancient fortified watchtowers alternating with little sandy coves and long stretches of sandy beaches. Terrain is up and down until Baia Chia.
The crystalline water has a Caribbean feel, which only the Mediterranean vegetation, (in particular the juniper trees, “Ginepro” typical of this region) will remind you that you are in Sardinia.
