Bike Tour FAQs – Italy

Quick answers to the most common questions about our bike tours in Sardinia, Italy. If you don’t see your question here, contact us—we’re happy to help.

Tour types

🚴Do you offer self-guided and guided bike tours?

Yes. We offer self-guided, assisted (extra support), and fully guided tours—depending on the itinerary and your travel style.

👥Are your tours a good fit for couples, families, or groups of friends?

Absolutely. We regularly plan trips for couples, families, and small groups. We can adapt daily mileage, elevation, and bike type (including e-bikes) to match your group.

Do you offer e-bikes?

Yes. E-bikes are available on many itineraries and are ideal for mixed-ability groups or riders who want extra help on climbs.

📏How do I choose the right tour difficulty?

We’ll help you choose based on your riding experience, fitness level, and preferred daily distance. For most tours, we share daily distance and elevation details before booking.

Navigation and support

🧭How does navigation work on a self-guided tour?

You’ll ride independently using the Ride with GPS app and clear route notes. We’ll create and share a private event with you in the app, and you can navigate in offline mode as well.

We also provide a smartphone holder to make navigation easier and safer. On our Sardinia tours, you can also rent a mobile device with the tracks already loaded—ask us for a quote.

📶Will navigation still work if I lose signal?

In many areas, coverage is good—but remote sections do exist. We recommend using offline maps/GPX on your phone and keeping your battery charged.

On our Sardinia tours, we also provide a power bank, which is helpful if your phone battery runs low.

🆘What if I need help during the ride?

You’ll have a support contact for assistance. If an issue comes up (route, bike, or an unexpected situation), we’ll work with you to find the best solution and get you back on track.

Bikes and what’s included

What equipment is included with your tours?

Our standard setup typically includes:

  • Selected bike
  • Helmet
  • Water bottle
  • Smartphone holder
  • Power bank (Sardinia tours)
  • Luggage tags
  • Repair kit (gravel bikes) + spare tube
  • Frame pump
  • Bike lock
  • Bike lights
  • 8-liter handlebar bag or rear-rack bag (depending on bike type)
  • Flat pedals (standard)

If your itinerary includes additional items or a different setup, we’ll confirm it in your final tour program.

🧩Can I use clipless pedals?

Yes. Our bikes come with flat pedals as standard. If you ride clipless, we recommend bringing your own pedals (systems vary). We can install them before your first ride.

🪖Should I bring my own helmet?

We provide helmets, but many cyclists prefer to bring their own for fit and comfort. Either option is fine.

🛠️What if I get a flat tire or a small mechanical issue?

We include a repair kit, spare tube, and pump for minor issues. If you need help, contact us and we’ll support you as best as possible.

What’s included vs not included

📋What’s included in the tour price?

Inclusions vary by tour type and hotel level, but most programs include:

  • Accommodations as per itinerary
  • Daily breakfast (in most tours)
  • Bike rental and standard equipment (as listed above)
  • Route planning + GPX tracks / Ride with GPS setup for self-guided tours
  • Support contact during the tour
  • Luggage transfers on most multi-day tours (when specified)

Your final itinerary will clearly list all inclusions.

🚫What’s typically not included?

Common exclusions (unless specifically stated):

  • Flights and transportation to/from Sardinia
  • Lunches and dinners (unless stated in your itinerary)
  • Personal expenses, tips, and extras at hotels
  • Travel insurance
  • Optional activities not listed as included

Luggage and logistics

🧳Do you transfer luggage between hotels?

On most multi-day tours, yes. Luggage transfers are standard for self-guided cycling holidays and make the ride much more enjoyable. We’ll confirm what applies to your specific itinerary.

🎒How much luggage should I bring?

Travel light: one medium suitcase plus a small daypack per person is ideal. Keep one cycling kit in your carry-on in case checked luggage is delayed.

🚐Can you arrange airport transfers?

In many cases, yes—depending on the arrival airport, timing, and tour logistics. Ask us and we’ll propose the best option.

Flights and getting to Sardinia

✈️Which airports should we fly into?

Sardinia has three main airports: Olbia (OLB), Alghero (AHO), and Cagliari (CAG). The best choice depends on your tour start/end location—tell us your dates and we’ll recommend the easiest airport.

🛩️Can you help us plan arrival and departure logistics?

Yes. We can suggest the most convenient airport, typical transfer options, and the best timing for your first/last day. If you need a private transfer quote, just ask.

Hotels, meals, and daily comfort

🏨What type of hotels do you use?

It depends on the tour level (superior, luxury) and the area. We focus on comfortable, well-reviewed accommodations that fit the cycling itinerary.

🍳Are meals included?

Almost all our tours include daily breakfast. Other meals vary by program. Your final itinerary will clearly show what’s included.

🥗Can you handle dietary requirements?

Often yes (vegetarian, allergies, intolerances). Let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to coordinate with accommodations and restaurants.

Weather and best season

🌤️What’s the best time of year for cycling in Sardinia?

Spring and autumn are typically the most comfortable seasons. Summer can be great near the coast, but it can be hot inland—especially midday.

🌧️Should I pack a rain jacket even in summer?

Yes. A lightweight shell is useful for sudden showers and also works as wind protection on descents and breezy coastal roads.

Pricing, payments, and policies

💳How do payments work and when is the balance due?

After we confirm availability and you approve the itinerary, we’ll send the booking details. Typically, a deposit secures the tour, and the final balance is due before departure (timing depends on the tour type and services included).

📄What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms depend on the tour type (self-guided vs guided), group size, and booked services. We’ll provide clear terms and conditions before you confirm your booking.

🛡️Do you recommend travel insurance?

Yes. We strongly recommend travel insurance to cover medical needs, trip interruption, and unexpected changes (flights, illness, etc.).

Riding, weather, and flexibility

🌧️What happens if it rains?

Light rain is usually manageable with the right gear. If weather is severe, we’ll help you choose the safest option—such as adjusting start times, suggesting alternative routes, or supporting a transfer when possible.

⏱️Can we shorten a stage or add a rest day?

Often yes. We can plan shorter options, add rest days, or adjust the program—especially for private groups. Tell us your preferences and we’ll build a tour that fits your pace.

🚴Can I join a tour if I’m not an experienced cyclist?

Yes. Many guests are casual riders. We’ll recommend suitable routes and bike types (trekking or e-bike are great options) and can adapt daily distances to match your comfort level.

Bikes and personal gear

🧤Can I bring my own saddle or accessories?

Yes. If you have a favorite saddle, pedals, or accessories (computer mount, etc.), feel free to bring them. We can usually install them during your bike fitting.

🔌Do I need to bring my own charger for the e-bike?

No additional charger is needed when renting our e-bikes. We provide the charger.

Hotels and room setup

🛏️Can I book a single room?

Yes, single rooms are often available, usually with a supplement. Availability varies by area and season, so we recommend requesting it early.

🏨Can you arrange higher-level hotels or a luxury upgrade?

Yes. We can often offer superior or luxury upgrades depending on the destination and travel dates. Tell us your preferred comfort level and we’ll propose the best options.

Booking

🗓️How do I book a tour?

Send us your preferred dates, group size, bike type (road/trekking/e-bike), and tour style (self-guided or guided). We’ll confirm availability and guide you through the next steps.

✍️Can you customize a tour?

Yes. We can tailor routes, hotel levels, rest days, and add-on experiences depending on your preferences and travel dates.
