Today you’ll ride along the coast with breathtaking scenery of Costa Smeralda heading towards Palau, where we will take the ferryboat for a short transfer to reach the La Maddalena Island.
Costa Smeralda is a coastal area about 20Km long and a famous tourist destination in northern Sardinia. Although originally it was designated only to a small stretch of beachfront in the commune of Arzachena, today is a highly desired beach destination for its many hidden beauties.
Once we reach the fishing town of Palau, we refuel our legs and charge our phones for the unique LaMaddalena and Caprera. One of the most beautiful minor islands of the Mediterranean Sea, La Maddalena is the largest town in the Maddalena archipelago between Sardinia and Corsica. Take advantage of the landscape and sea here as you may not find another like it elsewhere. After our loop ride on the minor islands, we suggest to have some shopping time in the village of La Maddalena and a light lunch before going back to the main Island of Sardinia.

Todays ride is something special, pedaling alongside fantastic bays which seem to pup up endlessly and motivate us for more panorama with a climb up to wilderness mountain, where the scent and the mist of the Mediterranean sea is not too far. The aromatic Mediterranean flora is a constant reminder where you are cycling.

We will cross the Village of Cargese which is known for its bizarre and fascinating rock formations called “Le Calanques” Just after Piana. Then, it’s a fast and sweeping 14 km descent to the small village of Marine de Porto where its beauty will stay with you forever. From here, we will arrive to Calvi with a van transfer of about 1 hour.
Calvì is a beautiful small town on the north-west coast of Corsica in an idyllic location with a large sheltered bay to the front and the mountains behind, on the edge of the Balagne region.
