In Sardinia, during the Sixties, in many villages developped the art of the Muralism, an artistic movement that comes from Mexico and evolved in South America. The little villages in which you can admire this kind of art are: San Sperate, in Cagliari province, Fonni, Mamoiada and Orgosolo in particular. The greatest exponent of the Murales in Orgosolo is Francesco Del Casino ( from Siena he moved to the small mountain village), there, there are over 150 wall paintings . The representations tell stories of daily life in the Sardinian agropastoral villages, Italian and world historical events, empowerment of women, wars and conflicts.
This type of art made Orgosolo a cultural center and a crossroad of artists who meet each other here regularly.
