Benito Carbonella

Born in Nuoro, Sardinia, moved abroad very young, first to Germany then to Switzerland, and pursued his entire hotel career up to the title of Restaurant Manager. In 1973 he returned definitively to Sardinia and took up the position of teacher of professional technique at the Professional Training Center Sardinia in Alghero.

In the same year he took over an old building in the historic center of the Catalan town and transformed it into the “Al Tuguri” restaurant, where he offered his guests his own interpretations of Mediterranean cuisine.

From that moment, in a “crescendo” that has not yet been exhausted, his participation in food and wine events of international importance multiplied, his presence in specialized television broadcasts is practically constant and a very welcome recognition of this tireless endorsement activity arrives in 1994 when it was awarded the Emerald Coast of the title of Ambassador of the Catalan Sardinian cuisine.

“Al Tuguri” is a cozy restaurant,

overlooking one of the characteristic cobbled streets in the heart of old Alghero. An authentic experimental cooking laboratory, celebrated among connoisseurs as a meeting place, study and research for all that refers to Mediterranean and Catalan gastronomy.

Located in an ancient building in the historic center of the Catalan town, it is a must for lovers of taste, attracted by that wise counterpoint of fresh inventiveness and rigorous tradition which is the secret of his cuisine.
