Since opening the doors of their restaurant, Pilu at Freshwater, in 2004, the couple have consistently been bestowed two Chefs Hats by The Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Food Guide.

Celebrating more than 10 years on the beach at Freshwater, Pilu at Freshwater is a quintessential Sydney dining experience, and a beloved institution in Sydney food circles. Pilu at Freshwater with chef Giovanni Pilu at the helm, is renowned for its authentic, contemporary regional Italian cuisine, its accomplished service, and its stellar wine list.

THE RESTAURANT

A path from the beach leads through the garden to the beach house. From the moment you set foot inside Pilu at Freshwater, Giovanni, Marilyn and their team ensure that your experience at Pilu is a memorable one. Each guest is welcomed like a returning friend. Giovanni’s passion for Sardinian, and regional Italian food, and his acclaimed cooking; is matched by the award-winning service delivered by Pilu’s longstanding front of house, sommeliers and wait staff, renowned across the industry for their warmth, knowledge and experience.

In addition to serving Lunch and Dinner six days, Pilu at Freshwater has several function spaces, from an intimate private room for a family celebration, to corporate cocktails and weddings in our garden, complete with a spectacular seaside backdrop.

THE KIOSK
Open seven days a week from 7am. The Kiosk is open for takeaway coffee, panini, cakes, pastries and lots, lots more. The terraced area adjoining the kiosk offers limited seating and a spectacular outlook onto Freshwater Beach.

Start the day with simple avocado and sea salt on sourdough, oven-roasted muesli with fresh fruit or toasted fruit bread with ricotta and honey. The kiosk is well known for its panini, such as breakfast rolls (free-range eggs, crisp pancetta, salsa and aioli) and toasted lunchtime sourdoughs bursting with fillings including the famous ‘Suckling Pig’ direct from the Pilu kitchen.
