Cycling Holidays in Sardinia: pedaling from Alghero to Oristano (or viceversa)
Sardinia is not just a beach paradise, but a cyclist’s dream as well. It’s scantily populated with breathtaking views all around! You are free to discover the open roads: less residents equals less cars –roads free from traffic await you!
You will spend a week biking all around rugged Landscape of the island: on the west coast, (Alghero and Bosa), to Medieval villages and Roman towns, such as Santu Lussurgiu, then down to Oristano, rich in history. You can visit Tharros and Fordongianus, Punic-Roman ruins complex and, adding one day cycling, the unique nuraghe village – Unesco World heritage site – Su Nuraxi in Barumini.
The cuisine is also a mélange of cultures and traditions. A wide variety of good wines are made in Sardinia, especially sweet wines. Recipes are based either on lamb and wild boar or seafood, cheese and ravioli.
This tour is available also on opposite direction, i.e. from Oristano to Alghero.

DAY 1 Benvenuti to Alghero & to Coral Coast
Meet & greet, bike fitting and Orientation, bike-test in the old-town in Alghero. Alghero is a lively and pretty city and a flourishing tourist attraction not only for the summer masses and elite tourism, but also for a new cosmopolitanism. Overnight in Alghero
DAY 2 Capo Caccia & Argentiera mine area . Distance 54 km / 33mi, mostly flat.
Cycling: round trip from Alghero to Capo Caccia and Palmadula. Pedaling towards north Sardinia, we will encounter terrific beaches and landscapes; we will arrive to the cliff of Capo Caccia where is possible reach the sea by the narrow stairs. DAY 3 Bosa & Malvasia. Distance 43 km or 60 km / 26,5 or 37 mi. Rolling hill terrain

DAY 4 Santu Lussurgiu, medieval hilltown. Distance 52 or 44 km / 32 or 27,5 mi. Hilly
Bike ride from Bosa to Santu Lussurgiu: pass small villages and the Siete Fuentes water sources, You’ll come across lots of Nuraghe and suggestive landscapes, such as the highplateau right before arriving into Santu Lussurgiu, which has been built at the edge of the massive inactive volcanic mountain called Montiferru. DAY 5 Oristano & Sightseeing. Distance 59 or 67 km / 36 or 41 mi. Downhill & flat.
Bike ride from Santu Lussurgiu to Oristano: pass through a lot of Punic and Roman ruins in Fordongianus, or will be enthusiastic of the crystalline water and sandy beaches if you take the longer version! DAY 6 Tharros and the Sinis Peninsula. Distance 50 or 62 km / 31 or 38 mi. Flat terrain
Loop bike ride from Oristano to the Sinis peninsula via Cabras: flat terrain today, pedaling near the seaside in the Sinis Peninsula: Cabras, Tharros, there are plenty of ponds and lagoons and where, depending on the season, you will be able to see pink flamingos; visit the ruins of the Punic-Roman port city of “Tharros” with a breathtaking view. DAY 7 Arrivederci or ride to Villanovaforru. Distance 30 km / 18,5 mi. Flat terrain

EXTRA DAY Barumini, Unesco site Nuraghe. Distance 56 km / 34 mi. Rolling hills
Bike ride from Oristano to Tuili and Barumini. Up and down through small villages of the Marmilla, towards Barumini. You find a mysterious archehological area called Su Nuraxi, a cluster of complkex stone structures called Nuraghe; after visit, head back towards Tuili.

DAY 1 Welcome to Oristano
Meet & Greet with “Bike Tour Sardinia” representative and professional bike-fitting. Will be a pleasure to pedal the narrow streets in the old town of Oristano for a bike-test.
DAY 2 Tharros & Pink Flamingos. Distance: 54 km/33,5 mi all flat
Cycling: Departure toward the peninsula of “Sinis,” where depending on the season, you will be able to see pink flamingos. Ride over the lagoon of Cabras , visit the ruins of the Punic-Roman port city of “Tharros” .
DAY 3 Guspini & SPA. Distance 59 km/36,6 mi or 73,5 km/45,6 mi
Cycling: Today two options: easy going, roll through the little villages of Arborea and Marceddì . After photo stops fo pink flamingos you will ride inland until Guspini. Or challenging ride up and down in Costa Verde until you reach the mines of Montevecchio. Roll down to Guspini, your destination.
DAY 4 Calasetta & Costa Verde (the Green Coast). Distance 65 km/40,5 mi
Cycling: pedal uphill to Arbus, long downhill towards the sea to reach Capo Pecora with a stop at Portixeddu and its long scenic beach. Your destination is Calasetta in front of San Pietro island. Stunning views of long sandy beaches and rugged promontories. Possible pit stops within the small seaside villages along the way.
DAY 5 San Pietro & Sant’Antioco Islands. Distance: 55 km/34 mi
Cycling: loop the fisherman village of Carloforte on San Pietro Island. A visit to the little islandof S. Antioco is possible taking the ferry boat. Highlights: pink flamingos and the lovely city of Carloforte in Genoese Style.
DAY 6 Nora Ruins and Sulcis Wine Area. Distance: 47 km/29 mi
Cycling: ride alongside craggy cliffs raised with ancient fortified watchtowers, alternating with little sandy coves and long stretches of sandy beaches. Terrain is up and down until Baia Chia. Your goal is Pula, near the Roman ruins of Nora.
DAY 7 Arrivederci a presto
